Formed in 1977, the Puerto Rican musical group Menudo was a major highlight in the global industry, especially in the 1980s. In Brazil, he gained so much notoriety that he released five albums in Portuguese. Among them, the hits “Don’t hold back” It is “I want to be” launched 40 years ago, are remembered to this day.
There were dozens of members who were part of the group — in its various phases — which lasted until 2009. Among the main ones are Ricky Martin, Roy Rosselló, Raymond Acevedo, Robi Rosa, Charlie Massó and Ricky Melendez, responsible for leading the band at its peak.
Three former members who were part of Menudo at its peak have also passed away in recent years. Adrián Olivares, who was in the group between 1990 and 1993, had his death announced last Monday (9) on the band’s official profile on social media. The musician was 48 years old.
Ray Reyes passed away in April 2021, at the age of 51, at his home in Toa Baja, Puerto Rico. Anthony Galindo, also known as Papi Joe, died in August 2020, at the age of 41. Through social media, the artist’s relatives revealed that he had attempted suicide and was hospitalized in serious condition.

Ricky Martin
After leaving the group in 1989, Ricky Martin launched a solo career and became one of the biggest Latin singers in the world. Over the years, he released hits such as “Livin’ la Vida Loca” and “She Bangs”. His latest album, “Pausa”, was released in 2020.
From 2013 to 2015, Ricky Martin was a judge on the reality show “The Voice”. The singer is the father of four children: twins Valentino and Matteo, 15, Lucia, 4, and Renn, 3.

Roy Rossello
Puerto Rican, Roy had great relationships in Brazil. He dated singer Mara Maravilha and is married to former Miss Rio Grande do Sul Patrícia Avila. He was also a member of the seventh season of A Fazenda, in 2014, and was the third eliminated.
Roy currently works as a pastor at the Semeando Amor church in Rio de Janeiro.
Raymond Acevedo

Robi Draco Rosa
Nowadays, using the stage name Draco Rosa, the musician also continued his musical career even after leaving Menudo in 1987. He released two hits alongside Ricky Martin, “Maria” and “La Copa de la Vida”, and lived in Brazil for a while. In 2010, he announced that he was suffering from cancer. In 2013, he faced another one. In 2019, he announced that he had overcome both medical conditions.
Draco Rosa released his most recent album, entitled “Reflejos de lo Eterno” in May of this year.
Charlie Masso
Charlie Massó continues to sing to this day and, in addition, has added more experiences to his resume: as a composer, producer and actor.

Unlike his former bandmates, Ricky Melendez currently lives away from the spotlight, working as a lawyer.
