Frost says Northern Ireland Protocol deal ‘can be done’ with EU before Christmas

British Brexit Minister David Frost has told BBC News that he believes that an agreement on the Northern Ireland Protocol “can be done” with the European Union (EU) before Christmas.

Frost said he agrees with the opinion of Irish Foreign Minister Simon Coveney, but has added that if “done” depends on whether the agreement solves all the problems, informa BBC News.

After lunch in Brussels with the EU chief negotiator, Maroš Šefčovič, on Tuesday, Coveney said: “The EU team this week is ready to make progress“.

“They want to focus on solutions and work in partnership with the British negotiating team … by the time Lord Frost meets with the Vice President of the [Comisión Europea] Šefčovič on Friday in Brussels, there may be the basis of real and measurable progress that, hopefully, both sides could take as a starting point to build momentum to try to resolve a whole host of other issues that need solutions in the coming weeks, ” added.
