As one of the most active volcano of Europe, Etna has been in almost continuous activity in recent years. It is one of the most impressive and photographed volcanoes in the world, and receives thousands of visitors every year.
Last time it had exploded Etna it was in August, with the ash, then obstructing so much that the Authorities were forced to close Catania airport for security reasons. Last night a fountain of lava was seen pouring out of the volcano while the southeast crater filled with smoke. Smokes, ashes and lava they reached a height of almost 4.5 kilometers.
