Operator VimpelCom (Beeline brand) has published interesting statistics on new technologies in smartphones. According to the operator, the popularity of smartphones with eSIM support has tripled in 2020.
In December, total sales of smartphones with eSIM support grew 3.8 times compared to December last year, and for the whole of 2020, sales of these devices grew 3 times compared to 2019. This is due to the development of online sales, an increase in the number of models with eSIM support, as well as the expansion of the geography of eSIM testing. By the beginning of the fourth quarter, Beeline connected eSIM in 1400 service offices.
Also in December, sales of smartphones with 5G support increased significantly. The main peak in sales was in December: 60% of 5G smartphones sold in 2020 were purchased in the last month of the year.
