Irix has unveiled the Irix 21mm f/1.4 full-frame manual focus lens. This is a variation of the Irix Cine 21mm T1.5, released in January, designed for photography. As with other similar pairs of Irix lenses, the new lens optically replicates its film counterpart, differing in appearance and a more familiar focus ring.

The optical design of the lens consists of fifteen elements in eleven groups, including four elements with extra-low dispersion, four elements with a high refractive index and two aspherical elements. According to the manufacturer, geometric distortions do not exceed 2%, so the lens is well suited for interior shooting and shooting architectural objects.
Technical data of the Irix 21mm f/1.4 lens:
- focal length – 21 mm;
- field of view angle — 79.4°;
- aperture – f / 4-f / 16;
- number of aperture blades – 11 (rounded);
- minimum focusing distance – 0.3 m;
- length – 99-103 mm (depending on the mount);
- diameter — 95 mm (depending on fastening);
- weight – 816-830 g (depending on the mount).
The lens is equipped with electronic iris control. It is weatherproof and has circuitry that provides EXIF data transfer and focus confirmation support for compatible cameras. Also of note is the focus ring lock feature, which helps prevent accidental shifting.
The lens is available in Canon EF, Nikon F, and Pentax K mounts for $890.
