Joe Biden: Will talk to Xi Jinping about North Korea

The president of USA, Joe Bidenintends to raise her issue North Korea to Chinese his counterpart Xi Jinping during the meeting the two leaders will have on Monday in Bali, Indonesia, on the sidelines of the G20 summit.

National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan told reporters on Air Force One, shortly before the US president’s arrival in Cambodia for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit, that Biden would tell Xi that if North Korea continue on the same path, this will lead to a strengthening of the United States military presence in the region.

In recent months, North Korea has engaged in a barrage of missile launches and is believed to be preparing a nuclear test.

Biden is set to meet the leaders of South Korea and Japan during his stay in Cambodia. Sullivan said the US president would discuss with them how to strengthen their countries’ defense cooperation, given the threat from North Korea.

According to the US National Security Adviser, President Biden hopes that his first one-on-one meeting with his Chinese counterpart will be the start of more top-level contacts between the two governments.

A meeting with Prince Mohammed bin Salman is not on the agenda

The agenda of contacts that US President Joe Biden will have on the sidelines of the G20 summit does not include a meeting with Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan clarified earlier.

The American president had met with the crown prince of Saudi Arabia last July. Three months later, the 13 OPEC member countries, led by Saudi Arabia, and their 10 allies (led by Russia), decided on the biggest cut in oil production since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, triggering the angry response from the White House.
