A 50-year-old man was arrested after running over a cyclist and a baby, on Highway SP-55, in Caraguatatuba, on the north coast of São Paulo, on Monday afternoon (11). The driver confessed that he had been drinking.
According to Caraguatatuba City Hall, the arrest took place in the Porto Novo neighborhood. The man was drunk and, inside the vehicle, police found beer cans.
According to police, the driver will be charged with the crimes of drunk driving and culpable bodily harm. The vehicle has been seized and will undergo forensic examination.

The municipal administration also reported that the victims were rescued by an ambulance that was passing by and suffered only minor bruises. They were treated in the Emergency Care Unit and later released.
