The closure of bars and restaurants and restrictions on other businesses to combat the second wave of the Covid pandemic in Catalua has triggered again the Temporary Employment Regulation Files (ERTE), which, in just one week, rise to 4,871 and affect a total of 41,054 workers.
According to the latest data from Department of Labor of the Generalitat, from October 16 to 22 this number of temporary files has been registered, of which 1.562 are traditional force majeure and 3.231 of force majeure due to impediment, while in 78 other causes are alleged.
The ERTE growth curve is on the rise and has gone from 1.556 in the four days following the closure of bars and restaurants to a total of 4,871 in seven days.
Regarding the total number of affected workers, 16.925 are employed in companies that have registered a traditional force majeure ERTE, 22.728 in one of impediment and 1.401, for other reasons.
Before these latest restrictions on economic activity, the number of people who were affected by an ERTE in Catalonia, dated September 30, were 146.559, according to Social Security data, reports Efe
