A 37-year-old woman and her two-year-old daughter died on Saturday (15) due to injuries suffered when an Afghan citizen ran over a crowd in Munich on Thursday, the German police said. They were the first victims of the case.
Prosecutors reported on Friday (14) that at least 39 people were injured, some of them seriously, after the car hit union activists protested for higher wages.
Authorities said they were treating the incident as an attack with religious motivation.
The action brought security back to the focus of the campaign for the federal election of Germany on February 23.
The attack occurred hours before the arrival of international leaders in the southern city of Germany for the Munich Security Conference, which takes place every year.
