The Minister of Immigration and Asylum, Notis Mitarakis, is going to Vilnius today, in order to participate in the Conference on Border Protection co-organized by Greece, Austria, Poland and Lithuania today and tomorrow.
The Ministers responsible for Immigration of the 27 Member States, the European Commission and the relevant European agencies have been invited to the Conference.
As stated in a relevant announcement of the Greek Ministry, “the purpose of the Conference is to emphasize the need to further strengthen the protection of the external borders of the European Union and the prevention of illegal entry, especially as Europe is experiencing the instrumentalization of immigration.”
Greece’s goal, the announcement continues, remains the substantial reduction of migration flows as well as the practical European solidarity in dealing with the effects of the crisis.
