New income transfer mechanisms have always been a concern, says senator

In an interview with CNN this Friday (1st), senator Alessandro Vieira, senator (PSDB-SE), commented on the approval of the new version of the Fuels PEC, which provides for the recognition of the state of emergency in 2022 in the country and a package of R $41.25 billion in aid.

The text was approved on Thursday (30) by the Federal Senate. According to Vieira, new income transfer mechanisms have always been a concern due to the crisis. “It is a fact that a later judicial discussion may occur, but we did not have any artificial gold to make this transfer of income viable”, he said.

“Even knowing that there may be an electoral intention on the part of the government on top of that, I defend that there is the public interest, the interest of the people, they need assistance, we need to guarantee the minimum to overcome this crisis aggravated by the war”.

The senator pointed out that the movement to find solutions to the crisis and to the price of fuel was done in a “radical” way, but, according to him, “they were done in a limited, clear and transparent way. People are aware of the value of this gaping hole in the spending ceiling and the market will price that,” he said.

On any questions that may be presented to the Federal Supreme Court (STF) due to the electoral period. Vieira said that no one should be prevented from submitting questions to the Supreme Court.

“Now, the institution will decide is difficult to predict. Either because the Court changes its opinion a lot, or because we have a question of weighting, as the law says. There is a legal provision, but, at the same time, there are other fundamental rights provided for in the Magna Carta”.
