New order of ‘green’ ship from Safe Bulkers by P. Chatziioannou

The construction of another ship carrying bulk dry cargo is proceeded by the Safe Bulkers of Poly Hatziioannou, continuing the impressive investment rally in 2021.

According to the company listed on the Wall Street, it ordered a bulk carrier, type kamsarmax, with a capacity of 82,000 dwt, in a Japanese yard, with a delivery date of the fourth quarter of 2023.

The ship, like the rest of the new ships, is designed with eco specifications. The shipbuilding will be financed with company funds.

Safe Bulkers order book consists of nine bulk carriers (three post panamaxes and six kamsarmaxes), with newcomer deliveries starting in the second quarter of 2022.

It is noted that for this year nine months the company recorded the best results of recent years. In particular, revenue rose to $ 247 million from $ 151.6 million last year. At the same time, last year’s losses of $ 20.5 million turned into profits of $ 109.1 million.

The shipping company manages about 40 bulk cargo ships, without the units under construction.

Samos Steamship, interests of the Inglesi family, was recently connected with the order bulk carriers by freight brokers.
