The construction of an electric vehicle factory in the northern Bulgarian city of Lovets has practically begun, Ljubomir Stanislanov, CEO of Next.e.Go Bulgaria and Head of Automotive Cluster Bulgaria, informed BTA today.
The factory will be located on the site next to the former Balkan factory in Lovets, where some of Bulgaria’s first cars, motorcycles and aircraft were built in the past.
This investment was approved a year ago by the then Finance Minister Kirill Petkov.
Stanislanov believes the first electric cars will roll off the production line before the end of next year. “We can essentially say that construction has started. The main contractor has been selected and is preparing the site,” he said.
The company that will oversee the project has also been selected. The largest construction companies in Bulgaria will participate in this project.
Large-scale production is planned to begin in 2024.
