Blue Origin is one of several companies that are developing space tourism. Already in July, the first flight on the New Shepard spacecraft should take place, and one of the crew members will be an ordinary passenger, that is, a space tourist.

True, to become one, it is not enough to have the required amount of money. Requirements for those who want to fly to New Shepard have appeared on the Web.

No higher than 193 cm and no heavier than 109 kg - there are requirements for space tourists who want to fly on a Blue Origin ship

For example, a person’s height should be at least 152.4 cm and no more than 193 cm, and the mass should be in the range from 49.9 to 108.9 kg. Also, the applicant must have a good understanding of English. More specifically, understand the instructions in English in a noisy environment.

Blue Origin also warns that takeoff g-forces will reach 3g, and during landing – 5.5g. For comparison, in the case of a flight on SpaceX’s Crew Dragon spacecraft, the takeoff overload is greater, and is 3.3g, but during landing, it is less than 4.5g. These are not critical values, but they are still much higher than most people experience in everyday life.

Separately, it should be recalled that the Blue Origin ship will rise to an altitude of just over 100 km as part of such flights. Formally, according to many norms, this is already considered outer space, but the ship will spend there only a few minutes, so it is probably incorrect to consider such a flight as a full-fledged space tourism.
