North Korea: 800,000 citizens volunteered to join armed forces to fight against US

About 800,000 citizens volunteered yesterday Friday (17/3) to enlist in the armed forces her North Korea to fight against USAaccording to the Rodong Sinmun newspaper, an organ of the ruling party’s central committee.

The call to enlist in the armed forces follows the launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) in response to ongoing US and South Korean military exercises.

Pyongyang on Thursday fired the Hwasong-17 missile into the sea area between the Korean peninsula and Japan, hours before the arrival of South Korea’s president in Tokyo.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has accused Washington and Seoul of dangerously escalating tensions on the Korean peninsula as they hold the Freedom Shield joint military exercises, the biggest in years in the region as part of US defense cooperation with South Korea.
