At least 14 people died and another 75 were injured after a billboard larger than an Olympic swimming pool collapsed during a storm in Mumbai, a city considered India's financial center, local authorities said. Dozens are still trapped beneath the structure.
This Tuesday (13) morning, rescue teams were seen working to remove the rubble.
The billboard collapsed on houses and a gas station close to a busy street after the city recorded heavy rain and intense wind on Monday (12).
The presence of fuel pumps prevents the use of hydraulic presses, which slows down the work of firefighters, police officers, civil guard agents and other authorities carrying out the rescue operation.
The structure was around 1,300 m², around nine times the maximum allowed for this type of outdoor media. The agency that owns the billboard did not have authorization from the Mumbai city council to install the equipment.
