ONS raises projected energy load in the month, but reduces it for reservoirs

The National Electric System Operator (U.S) now sees an increase in electricity load in December, while waiting less rains in the month compared to last week’s forecast for the main regions with hydroelectric reservoirs.

A national charge of energy electricity is expected to rise 0.9% in December, reaching 70,672 average megawatts (MW). Last week, the forecast was for a drop of 0.5%.

The ONS also estimates that the reservoirs of hydroelectric plants the Southeast and Midwest are expected to reach 25.7% of their capacity by the end of December. This level represents a worsening compared to the previous projection of 26.1%.

The rains in the Southeast and Center-West regions should reach 97% of the historical average for December, compared to 99% in last week’s estimate.

In the Northeast, rainfall for the month is now estimated at 77% of the historical average, against 86% in the previous forecast.

For the South, the estimate indicates rainfall at 41% of the historical average for December, compared to 55% in the previous forecast.
