Anger has caused the video with a businessman in San Francisco, who appears to drench a woman with a hose. Collier Gwin, owner of the Foster Gwin Gallery, admitted to the San Francisco Chronicle that he poured water on the homeless woman sitting on the sidewalk in front of his business.
The video, which was taken on Monday morning by the owner of a nearby bakery, shows Gwin drenching the woman, who was crying. In a calm voice, he later told her, “Just move.” And he continued to shower her.
Britain’s Guardian has not been able to identify the woman, who has been seen in the area before by people who live there.
In his interview with the Chronicle, Gwin did not appear at all remorseful: “I’m only sorry that … my way of helping her so many times didn’t work.”
“It’s just hard and cold. And I think most people who saw the video were shocked by the cruelty and the lack of understanding of what he did,” said Jennifer Friedenbach of the Coalition on Homelessness.
The images caused shock and outrage online.
San Francisco police confirmed they responded to a call about the incident on Monday, but did not need to respond.
