Parity Technologies will work with the University of California at Berkeley to improve the blockchain curriculum and popularize it among students.
In the 2020-2021 academic year, Parity Technologies will work with faculty and students at UC Berkeley on curriculum development, project ideas, and other initiatives to improve blockchain learning. Parity will also advise students and entrepreneurs looking to launch their blockchain startup.
The partnership builds on UC’s Blockchain Xcelerator Program, which launched in January 2019 to support new startups and create a globally competitive blockchain curriculum. Since its inception, Xcelerator has helped launch 45 blockchain-related companies, including Acala.
Jocelyn Weber of Blockchain Xcelerator said her group’s work with “Parity and other Polkadot infrastructure startups has demonstrated the potential of this technology in educating our community.” She stated:
“We strive to introduce our students to the tools and skills they will need to work in the blockchain industry and immediately start contributing to it. Therefore, enhancing their knowledge with tools like Substrate and networks like Polkadot will be an important part of developing our curriculum. ”
American universities are increasingly introducing blockchain courses into their curricula. In December 2019, the University of California at Santa Barbara (UCSB) delivered the first certified course in blockchain and distributed ledger technology.
