PF and Army carry out operation against PMs and CACs for illegal sale of weapons and ammunition

The Federal Police are on the streets with 325 agents, this Tuesday (21), to execute 20 preventive arrest warrants and 33 search and seizure warrants in Bahia, Pernambuco and Alagoas against public security agents, CACs, businesspeople and stores sales of firearms, ammunition and accessories.

The operation also involves the seizure of assets and the freezing of amounts of up to R$10 million from those under investigation, in addition to the suspension of economic activity in three stores that sold military materials illegally.

The warrants are carried out within the scope of Operation Friendly Fire, which aims to dismantle a criminal organization, made up of military police, CACs and shopkeepers, specialized in selling illegal weapons and ammunition to criminal factions in the states of Bahia, Pernambuco and Alagoas.

During the start of the operation, the Brazilian Army carried out inspections of other stores that sell controlled weapons, ammunition and accessories in the municipalities of Juazeiro/BA and Petrolina/PE.

Those investigated will be responsible for the crimes of Criminal Organization, Illegal sale of weapons and ammunition, Money Laundering and Ideological Falsehood, whose combined sentences can reach 35 years in prison.

The action of the PF of Bahia is integrated with GAECO Norte of the state Public Ministry and other security bodies.

The Federal Police say they will continue the investigation, in an attempt to elucidate the true extent of the alleged criminal organization, and identify other members.
