PF carries out operation against fraud in CAC records for the purchase of firearms

The Federal Police (PF) started, this Wednesday (25), an operation to combat fraud in records that allow the legal purchase of firearms.

Police officers serve two search and seizure warrants in the city of Barra do Garças, in Mato Grosso.

According to police investigations, fraud occurred through the use of false documents to obtain a registration certificate (CR) that authorizes a person to perform the activity of collector, shooter or hunter (CAC).

“As a rule, false documents were used to circumvent inspection, aiming to grant CAC registration to people who did not meet the requirements for obtaining firearms, leading the Army to error,” the PF said in a note.

“People with extensive criminal records (passages for theft, theft, criminal association, attempted murder, carrying and illegal possession of a firearm) tried to acquire firearms using these false documents”, he added.

In theory, the granting of registration for CAC and purchase of firearms and ammunition depends on criminal background certificates in different spheres of Justice – Federal, State, Military and electoral – in addition to a declaration of not responding to a police investigation or criminal proceedings .

The two warrants issued for the operation this Wednesday (25) aim to seize computers, cell phones, firearms, ammunition and documents “related to the investigated facts, in order to strengthen the confirmation of the frauds perpetrated by those involved, as well as to identify other individuals who may be involved with the facts,” the PF reported.

Those involved in these crimes are accused of forgery of public documents, ideological falsehood, use of false documents and criminal association.
