Two men died and one was arrested between this Wednesday (7) and this Thursday (8), during the São Paulo Government's Operation Summer, in Baixada Santista. The actions seek to combat the spread of crime, in addition to identifying and arresting suspects involved in the deaths of police officers.
According to the Public Security Secretariat (SSP), a 20-year-old man died and another, 24, was arrested for illegal possession of a firearm, on Wednesday night (7), on Avenida Osvaldo Toschio, in Saint Vincent.
One of the men pointed the revolver at the police, who fired, the secretariat said in a statement. In the next room, another armed man disobeyed the order to surrender, pointed a gun at the police and was also shot.
São Vicente City Hall reported that the 20-year-old criminal was taken to the Central Emergency Room, but died in the unit. The other, aged 24, was taken to Hospital do Vicentino.
The weapons of the suspects and police officers were seized. A rifle was also seized from the property.
Another incident, in the early hours of this Thursday (8), left a man, still unidentified, after shooting at military police officers, on Avenida Ferroviária, in Vila dos Pescadores, in Cubatão.
In a statement, the SSP said that the weapons used were seized. Portions of narcotics were also found in the building where he was staying.
All occurrences of death resulting from police intervention (MDIP) are investigated by the 3rd Homicide Police Station of Deic de Santos and monitored by the Military Police and forwarded for analysis by the Public Prosecutor's Office and the Judiciary.

This Wednesday (7), a corporal and a sergeant were shot during an incident in Santos, on the coast. The corporal received treatment, but died shortly afterwards.
The Secretary of Public Security of the State of São Paulo, Guilherme Derrite, stated in a video published on social media that the criminals responsible for the death of Corporal José Silveira dos Santos, this Wednesday (7), belong to the largest criminal organization in the country .
The perpetrators of the crime were convicted of drug trafficking and for having shot at civil police officers in 2019. They were sentenced to 15 years in prison and benefited from temporary prison release and did not return to prison.
“A country that grants temporary release to a highly dangerous criminal like this is unacceptable,” said the secretary.
