Police serve 19 warrants against group that traffics drugs through the Post Office

A group responsible for drug trafficking in Brazil through Mail is the target of an operation this Tuesday morning (10).

The action is carried out by the Integrated Force to Combat Organized Crime (Ficco) of the Federal District, which launched the operation “Suite 33”.

Are fulfilled 18 search and seizure warrants and 1 arrest warrant in Brasília (DF), Pirenópolis (GO), Porto Seguro (BA) and in Itapema (SC). One of group leaders were arrested in Santa Catarina.

The investigations began after preliminary investigations indicated that a suspect, subject of the preventive arrest warrant, received drugs, mainly synthetic, from European countries through the postal service and disseminated throughout Brazil.

During investigations, almost 6.5 kg of ecstasy received from the Netherlands and Germany were seized. The drugs would then be resold to other traffickers in the Federal District and also via the Post Office, to other units of the Federation.

The group would also acquire drugs from local criminal factions which, together with those received from abroad, would be stored in hotel rooms and vacation rentals for later distribution.

The Federal Police have already identified at least 18 members of the group, so that 7 would already find themselves arrested mostly due to the commission of drug trafficking in other cases.

In the period between May and September 2023 alone, the group would have moved almost R$12 million with the scheme.

Investigations continue based on the seizures from today’s operation. All material will be analyzed.

THE CNN requested a position at the Post Office and is awaiting a response.
