Diana Shipping, in the interests of the Palios family, is proceeding with the acquisition of a ship carrying dry bulk cargo under construction.
In particular, the Wall Street-listed company announced the purchase of a capesize, with a capacity of 181,500 dwt, which is manufactured in Japan, for $ 60.1 million. The ship is expected to be delivered to the shipping company in the first quarter of 2022.
About a month ago, Diana announced that it would launch a spin-off for three of the fleet’s oldest ships. The new company, called OceanPal Inc., was listed on the Nasdaq index of the US stock market.
Today, Diana’s fleet consists of 33 bulk carriers, not counting the cape she bought.
The bulk cargo industry is the hottest in terms of buying and selling used ships. This year’s transactions have broken all records, as sound fare levels boost shipowners’ interest in new deals.
A few days ago, the Capital.gr wrote about three new agreements concerning companies of Greek interests.
