the former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) published a phrase used in his radio and TV advertisement broadcast on Tuesday (6), according to which September 7 “should be a day of love and unity for Brazil” — which, according to him, “is not what happens today”. “I have faith that Brazil will regain its flag, sovereignty and democracy,” he said.

The president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) published a video of the fireworks display that took place on Tuesday night (6), when supporters gathered in front of the TV Tower, on the Monumental Axis, in Brasília. The caption is an excerpt from the Independence Anthem: “Freedom has already dawned on the horizon of Brazil”.

The other presidential candidates have not yet commented on the date.

Speech on the Esplanade

President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) said in a speech at the Esplanada dos Ministérios, in Brasilia, that the country currently has a “thriving economy”, which is registering a drop in inflation and job creation. He highlighted the reduction in gasoline prices and the scope of the Auxílio Brasil program, for income distribution.

“Behold, Brazil reappears with a thriving economy, with one of the cheapest gasoline in the world, with one of the most comprehensive social programs in the world, which is Auxílio Brasil, with a record in job creation, with inflation plummeting and with a wonderful people who understand where their country can go,” he told supporters from atop an electric trio.
