Serial killer who murdered dozens of women and fed their remains to pigs killed in prison

Robert Pickton, a notorious Canadian serial killer who fed the remains of his victims to pigs on his Vancouver farm, has died after being attacked in prison. The Correctional Service of Canada said in a statement that Picton, 71, died in hospital on Friday after being attacked on May 19 by another inmate. The notorious serial killer was sentenced to life in prison in 2007, with a maximum period of 25 years suspended, after being charged with the murders of 26 women. Police began searching the Picton farm as part of a multi-year investigation into the disappearances of dozens of women. The remains and DNA of 33 women were eventually found on his farm.
