The actress Sophie Turner, 28, star of “Game of Thrones” spoke about the end of marriage with singer Joe Jonas 35, which ended in September 2023.
“It was incredibly sad. We had a beautiful relationship, and the end was difficult”, said the artist renowned for playing the character Sansa Stark. According to her, one of the main reasons the couple divorced was Sophie’s desire to raise her two daughters from the relationship in her homeland, England.
In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar magazine, the actress said that she moved to Europe after her divorce and feels that her life is returning to normal.
“I’m so happy to be back. It was like my life was on pause until I returned to England. […] I never really feel like myself when I’m not in London with my friends and family,” said the “Game of Thrones” actress.
She said that during the six years she lived in the United States, she always looked for stores selling British products so she could feel more comfortable in the places.
Nowadays, she has her own house in the capital of England, but she doesn’t stay there when her daughters are with their father. According to her, being without Willa and Delphine is “absolute agony”.
Turner’s relationship with Jonas — six years older — began with a courtship in 2016, followed by a marriage proposal a year later.
In 2019, the couple fled to Las Vegas and had their first wedding, which was repeated in a second ceremony held in Provence, France, in front of friends and family. Willa, the first daughter, was born in 2020, and Delphine, in 2022.
The couple filed for divorce in September 2023, and, shortly after, the actress became the target of accusations of abandoning motherhood. Both children stayed with their father after the divorce while the actress was on the sets.
