S&P 500 Index opens lower after five-day rally

The main US stock indices They opened in negative territory after posting gains on Monday. The S&P 500 Index, which hit a new all-time high of 4,422 on Monday, is shedding 0.5% at 4,399, the Dow Jones Industrial Average is down 0.73% at 34,888 and the Nasdaq Composite is down 0.33% at 15,080.

Hours earlier, data released by the US Census Bureau showed durable goods orders rose 0.8% month-on-month in June, compared to the market’s expectation of 2.1%.

Meanwhile, all major sectors of the S&P 500 are down after Tuesday’s opening bell. At the moment, the Energy Index is the worst performer, losing 1.5% on the day. On the other hand, the real estate index is losing only 0.07%.
