A curious scene can draw the attention of anyone passing by for the first time on a street in Alvorada, a city in Rio Grande do Sul, close to Porto Alegre.
In a post on social networks, musician Ivan Almeida, in a good-natured way, warns that the neighbor “arrived causing trouble in the neighborhood” after placing a two-meter-high statue of an entity of quimbanda religion of African origin, on the wall of the house.

The statue represents an entity known as Beelzebub , Baphomet or Saravá Exu Maioral . In the African matrix religion Quimbanda, he is represented as a creature with wings and the head of a goat, but with a human body.
In an interview with CNN , the singer claims that the post was made just as a joke. Ivan admits that the tweet would be a hit with his followers, but he had no idea it would go viral on the network.
As of press time, Ivan’s post has reached nearly 10 million views, as well as thousands of shares and comments.
Ivan admits that the statue draws attention and impresses with its size. He believes that the rest of the neighborhood does not know what the image means, but “everyone knows that it is a house of religion”.
Raising awareness against religious intolerance
The mother of saint Michelly da Cigana, owner of the house where the statue is located, tells the CNN who decided to place the entity in front of his house “as a way of extolling and thanking, as a form of respect and faith and for all the good things he has been doing in my life”.
Michelly says that the statue was placed on the wall in November 2022, but that it has been worshiping Beelzebub for 9 years. She also reveals that she has an entity tomb in the residence, which is open every Good Friday (April 7).

Commenting on the post that went viral on social media, the mother of saint admits that she really liked the visibility given to her religion. “It had national and international repercussions as well,” she says.
Michelly also took the opportunity to “clarify that the [entidade] it’s not about anything evil” and that Beelzebub deserves the comments he’s getting on the networks.
It is an opportunity to have a voice and raise awareness in times of so much religious intolerance.
