The Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro arrested, this Friday (13), one of the suspects involved in the death of a police officer in Favela do Quitungo, in the North Zone of the state. The prisoner is identified as a participant in the homicide and was caught with a group placing the police officer’s body inside a vehicle and leaving the car runaway on a slope.
According to the police, the Capital Homicide Police Station (DHC) temporarily arrested the suspect, identified as Jefferson Rocha Bezerra, known as “Jeffinho”.
The case happened on December 3rd of this year and was reported by TV Globo. The off-duty military police officer, who was on his way to a medical appointment on the day of the crime, was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head on Orica Street.
The victim’s body was wrapped in a sheet and placed in a car, pushed down a slope until it collided with the wall of a house nearby.
The police highlight that the suspect was located based on statements from witnesses and one of those involved, known as “Cabeludo” – also apprehended during the investigations.
Furthermore, images obtained by the police show Jefferson trying to remove the agent’s body from inside the car and then helping an accomplice escape on a motorcycle.
According to investigations, the suspect used a backpack from a food delivery app to disguise the transport of weapons and drugs.
The case remains under investigation to identify and arrest those involved in the case.
PM dead
On December 3, four criminals were caught placing the agent’s body inside a vehicle and leaving the car runaway on a hill.
According to the Military Police, PM Marco Antonio Matheus Maia, 37 years old, was traveling along Rua Orica, one of the access points to the Quitungo Community, when he came across a group of armed criminals.
The bandits fired shots at the agent, who was hit and found dead in his vehicle. The criminals fled.
Marco had been with the corporation for 13 years and was assigned to the 41st BPM (Irajá). The Capital Homicide Police are investigating the case.
Two days after the police officer’s death, the Military Police carried out an operation in the same place where the crime took place. During the action, which aimed to curb the confrontation between rival factions in a territorial dispute in the Brás de Pina and Cordovil region, three suspects were arrested.
