Taylor Swift breaks record and overtakes Spider-Man movie in ticket sales

It’s not just in the music world that singer Taylor Swift has been breaking records. This Friday (1), the artist also shook the cinema universe by winning the highest-grossing title in pre-sales with the film “The Eras Tour”, her world tour.

With that, she exceeds the number of advance ticket sales of “Spider-Man: No Coming Home”, the third superhero film at Marvel.

The event comes after the announcement of the film of “The Eras Tour”, made by Taylor Swift on Thursday (31).

The exhibition takes place in North American cinemas from the 13th of October. According to the website Deadline, the musical documentary raised more than US$ 37 million (approximately R$ 180 million) in its first 24 hours of pre-sales in the three largest circuits of cinema in the United States: AMC, Regal and Cinemark.

Taylor Swift’s record represents only part of the volume of tickets sold in pre-sales, as it was reached in theaters on the AMC network, the official responsible for the production, in less than three hours.

There were US$ 26 million (approximately R$ 126 million) in advance sales. The amount surpasses “Spider-Man: No Return Home”, which made US$ 16.9 million (approximately R$ 82 million) in the same period.

“The Eras Tour has been the most meaningful and electric experience of my life so far and I am thrilled to say it will hit the big screen soon,” wrote Taylor Swift on her social media.

The singer lands in Brazil and Argentina in November this year. In 2024, Taylor Swift will still go through countries in Europe and another stage in the United States.

The setlist includes hits like “Blank Space”, “Cruel Summer”, “Love Story”, “Shake It Off” and “Anti-Hero”.

Last Tuesday (29), Taylor Swift still broke a record on the music platform Spotify by becoming the first female artist to have 100 million monthly listeners. According to the streaming platform, Taylor is second only to The Weeknd, a male artist who accumulates 110 million monthly listeners.
