Taylor Swift is honored with projection on Christ the Redeemer

Christ the Redeemer received a tribute to Taylor Swift this Thursday (16). The singer will perform in the capital of Rio de Janeiro starting tomorrow (17).

“The Eras Tour” arrives in Brazil this Friday (17th), with a presentation in Rio de Janeiro, at Engenhão. The singer also sings in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday (18) and Sunday (19), with all performances sold out.

Afterwards, she will head to São Paulo, for shows at Allianz Parque on the 24th, 25th and 26th of November.

The projection mapped on the monument responds to fans’ requests, on social media, with a message welcoming the singer. The tribute comes after the singer’s fans completed the challenge proposed by the rector of the Cristo Redentor Sanctuary, Father Omar, to raise more than 20 thousand panettone and mineral water to help people in situations of vulnerability and social exclusion.

The “swifties” and those interested in the cause participated in the campaign by donating food and drink, worth R$15.00, on the Kickante website [www.kickante.com.br/l/taylornocristo]. The initiative aimed to raise awareness and mobilize society against poverty and social exclusion, in celebration of World Day of the Poor, celebrated next Sunday (19).

The tribute was encouraged by the mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Paes, who stated, in a press conference, that the projection will refer to a video by the singer and expected that fans would make noise on the internet. On social media, the artist’s fans asked Christ to wear the “Junior Jewels” t-shirt from the music video for “You Belong With Me”.
