The minister of Agriculture, Tereza Cristina, celebrated this Wednesday (15) the decision of the Chinese government to lift the embargo on Brazilian beef.
AT CNN, the minister said that the end of the suspension proves the quality of Brazilian meat.
“The Brazilian government is pleased, because it demonstrates the recognition of the quality of Brazilian meat. The news is reassuring and shows the quality of Brazilian meat”, he said.
According to the minister, the decision is the result of both the work of the agricultural defense secretariat and the international trade secretariat, both of the Ministry of Agriculture.
“Now, the commerce channels are back to normal”, he pointed out.
Policy analyst Gustavo Uribe anticipated this Wednesday morning (15) that China had lifted the embargo on Brazilian beef.
The ministry’s press office informed that it does not have details of the Chinese government’s decision, but specified that it was informed that exports to the Asian country had returned to normal, with the certification and shipment of animal protein.
The embargo on Brazilian beef has been going on for over three months and has had an impact on the agricultural sector, as China is the main market for Brazilian beef.
According to a survey by the Brazilian Association of Meat Shops (Abrafrigo), the volume of Brazilian beef exports dropped 43% in October when compared to the same period in 2020.
