They turned it into a hemp forest… Unesco nature park – “It was the perfect hiding place”

Police in Italy discovered a cannabis forest containing more than 200 seedlings hidden inside a UNESCO natural park. According to a report by corriere.it, the crop was found in the Parco del Ticino, in the province of Pavia, an islet in the river Ticino that is difficult to access. “It was the perfect hideout,” said police officers anonymously, as the place was difficult to access, with the plantation protected from prying eyes. In fact, the plants were placed in rows and had irrigation systems powered by portable solar panels. The authorities arrived at the discovery after helicopter patrols, because in the last period of time intense mafia activity had been found in the area. In one of the patrols, the crop was spotted from the air and a police raid followed, however no one has been arrested, nor has anyone been charged. According to the Italian authorities, the estimated profit exceeded one million euros, while the saplings were uprooted and burned.
