Aeronautical Engineering student Gabriel Mongenot Santana Milhomem Santos, aged 25, was stabbed to death during a robbery, on Copacabana Beach, in Zona Zul of Rio de Janeiro. The crime took place in the early hours of this Sunday (19). The young man, born in Mato Grosso do Sul, was in Rio with a group of friends to watch singer Taylor Swift’s concert.
According to a friend of the victim’s family, Gabriel arrived in the capital of Rio de Janeiro on Friday (17). He and his friends would enjoy the tourist attractions in Rio de Janeiro while waiting for the show date. The group would go to the performance this Sunday (19).
In the early hours of today (19), the tourist was approached by criminals on Copacabana Beach. During a robbery, Gabriel was stabbed and died.
Rio de Janeiro’s military police reported that they arrested one of the robbers after searching the region. The second suspect, who would be responsible for the stabbings, has already been identified, but has not yet been located by agents.
The man being sought is a homeless man, who had been arrested on Friday (17) for theft and receiving. The military police stated that he was released by the courts on the same day of his arrest.
The PM also said that the suspect, who has not yet been found, already has police records for robbery, homicide, possession of a firearm, bodily harm, theft and receiving goods.
The Capital Homicide Police Station (DHC) was called and is investigating the case.
Gabriel’s family hopes that the student’s body will be released today (19). He will be transported to Campo Grande (MS), where the family is waiting for the wake.
