The head of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, expressed strong concern about a possible food crisis on Wednesday, noting that the problem of hunger is intensifying in various parts of the world due to food shortages caused by the war in Ukraine.
Speaking with the Austrian Chancellor and Foreign Minister from Vienna, Guterres also stressed that talks were continuing to remove more civilians from Ukraine’s war zones.
“I have to say that I’m deeply concerned, especially about the risk that the problem of hunger will spread widely, in different parts of the world, because of the dramatic food security situation we are facing because of the war in Ukraine,” he said.
