The general commander of the Military Police of the State of São Paulo, Colonel Cássio Araújo de Freitas, made an appeal to the population during a press conference held this Saturday (10) in Vinhedo, in the interior of São Paulo. He asked that people not go to the place where the Voepass plane crashed.
Freitas reported that around 200 police officers, including police teams, road patrol officers, firefighters and experts, are working at the scene of the accident. “Many people have been calling 190 to get information about a loved one. So I ask that you pay attention to what the Civil Defense says,” warned the colonel.
Rescue and investigation operation
According to the commander, the first vehicles arrived at the scene five minutes after the initial call. He highlighted the experience of the Fire Department teams, who recently responded to critical incidents in Turkey, São Sebastião and Rio Grande do Sul.
Freitas also reported that, at the time of the press conference, 31 victims had already been removed from the site. “The removal is carried out in a meticulous, technical and professional manner, meeting international standards so that we can first respect the victims, their families and the technique and methodology used,” he explained.
Guidelines for the population
The colonel reinforced the request that the surrounding community not approach the accident area. “It is a crisis site that needs to be organized, which contributes to the solution of this crisis,” he said.
Freitas warned that the use of drones in the area is prohibited, stating that authorities are equipped to neutralize unauthorized devices. Families seeking information about possible victims should go to the Oscar Freire Institute, across from the Central Legal Medical Institute (IML) in São Paulo, according to guidance that will be released by Civil Defense.
