Comedian, radio host and musician Acacio Oliveira, known as Kaquinho Big Dog, died in the early hours of this Thursday (12), aged 62.
The comedian became famous in the 1990s when he presented the program “Acorda Paschoal”.
Born in Belo Horizonte, as a baby, Acacio was affected by polio and was later diagnosed with infantile paralysis. Years later, he began his career as a singer of Brazilian Popular Music (MPB) in bars in the capital of Minas Gerais.
In the early 1990s, he switched to humor when he took on the stage name Kaquinho Big Dog. The communicator said that he chose the adjective “Big Dog”, because, according to him, he saw names like Little Richard and thought the sound in English was “beautiful”.
In 1993, he started presenting the program “Acorda Paschoal”. At the time, his songs became known to listeners in the region.
The following year, in 1994, he released the songs on K7 tape, selling approximately 55 thousand copies. The project attracted the attention of record label Virgin, which released its first CD in 1996.
Kaquinho was friends with fellow comedian Geraldo Magela. The two met during their radio days. The comedian published a video on social media lamenting the communicator’s death.
