THE CNN Our World this Friday (21) interviewed Camila Achutti, businesswoman and founder of Mastertech, to talk about women in technology and computing.
For Achutti, women are still very much associated with other functions in the job market, which prevents them from entering the technology field.
“Girls are still related to relationship and communication areas and boys are still related to construction”, said Achutti.
According to data from the “Unesco Science Report 2021”, women continue to be underrepresented in areas such as computing, digital information technology, engineering, mathematics and physics.
Women made up a third (33%) of researchers in 2018 and achieved parity when it comes to numbers in the sciences in many countries, but that’s just 28% among engineering graduates and 40% of those in computer science – vital skills for the jobs of the future.
When we talk about scientific areas linked to the digital revolution, female participation is still considerably lower than male participation.
When we think of technology, we still see a white man, geek and millionaire. Women are still far from this universe
Camila Achutti, CEO and Founder of Mastertech
