Woody Allen says in rare interview he can stop directing films

the filmmaker Woody Allen which has repercussions for Hollywood on account of an accusation of sexual abuse made by his adopted daughter, he said on Tuesday (28) that he will shoot a new film in Paris in the autumn of the Northern Hemisphere, and that it could be the last of his career.

Allen, 86, spoke in a rare interview with the actor Alec Baldwin about his career and his book “Zero Gravity”, a compilation of humorous essays.

“A lot of the emotion is gone,” Allen said of making movies.

“When I made a movie, I would go to movie theaters all over the country. Now you make a movie and you get a few weeks in a theater, maybe six weeks, or four weeks, and then it goes straight to streaming or pay-per-view… I don’t like it that much.”

Allen did not give details about his next film, which would be the 50th of his career as a filmmaker.

The Oscar-winner and director of “Girlfriend, Angry Bride” and other comedies has repeatedly denied allegations that he molested his adopted daughter, Dylan Farrow, in 1992.

Many Hollywood celebrities and executives distanced themselves from Allen following the #MeToo movement in 2017, which brought attention to episodes of sexual misconduct.

HBO revisited the allegations against Allen in the series “Allen vs. Farrow”, from 2021.
