Zelensky at “G19”: He denounced “the mischievous threats to use nuclear weapons” by Russia

The Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyaddressing the G20 summit via video link, advocated extending “indefinitely” the agreement allowing grain exports from his country’s Black Sea ports, which expires on Friday.

“Our grain export initiative deserves to be extended indefinitely, regardless of when the war ends,” Mr Zelensky told the leaders’ closed-door meeting at the summit. He also suggested that the agreement negotiated by Kyiv and Moscow, brokered by the UN and Turkey, and which allowed some 10 million tons of grain to be exported, should be extended to two more Ukrainian ports,

At the same time, in his intervention, Mr. Zelensky decided that “it is time” to end the “disastrous” war of Russia.

It is not worth offering Ukraine compromises with conscience, sovereignty, territory and independence. We respect the rules, and our people’s words. Ukraine has always been the leader of peace efforts, and the world has seen this. And if Russia says that it supposedly wants to end this war, let it fight. We will not let Russia wait, build up its forces, and then start a new series of terror and global destabilization. Release of all prisoners and deportees. 5. Implementation of the UN Statute and restoration of the territorial integrity of Ukraine and the world order. 6. Withdrawal of Russian troops and cessation of hostilities. 7. Restitution of justice. 8. Anti-ecocide. 9. Non-escalation. 10. Fixing the end of the war. 🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦

“I am convinced that it is the time, right now, (that) Russia’s destructive war must and can be ended,” that peace must be “restored,” the head of state said, as reported by Agence France-Presse and relayed by Athens News Agency.

He also proposed to promote an exchange of “all” Ukrainian and Russian prisoners of war.

The Ukrainian head of state denounced “the mischievous threats to use nuclear weapons” by the Russian political leadership, insisting that there can be “no excuse for blackmail” of this nature, addressing the “G19” — apparently excluding Russia.
