Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Sunday called on citizens of neighboring Belarus not to be allowed to get involved in Russia’s war against his country.
“The Kremlin has already decided everything for you,” Zelensky said during his sermon last night.
“But you are not slaves, you are not meat for the cannons. You do not have to die,” he added.
The Belarusian people must not allow other decisions to be made on their behalf, Zelensky continued.
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on Saturday that Moscow would supply Belarus with Iskander-M missiles – systems capable of carrying nuclear warheads – in the coming months.
Mr Putin announced the plan during a meeting with his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko.
Kyiv recently denounced attacks by Russian troops on its positions from the territory of Belarus, a country considered a close ally of Moscow.
“I know the people of Belarus support us – us, not the war. That is why the Russian leadership wants to drag it into this war,” Zelensky insisted.
