The religious police of Taliban threatened to open fire on women working for non-governmental organizations in a province in northwestern Afghanistan, if they do not wear the burqa, broadcast on Friday (21/1) the French Agency citing employees in these NGOs.
Representatives of Ministry of Morality Prevention and Dissemination of Virtue in Badghis Province met on Sunday with humanitarian organizations, reported in AFP two members of local international branches NGOs.
“We were told (…) if the women who belong to our staff come to the office without wearing the burqa, they will shoot them,” said one of the sources, who did not want to be named for security reasons.
The Taliban they also asked women to be accompanied by a man, he added.
A second source from a humanitarian organization confirmed the information. “They said they would go to any office without warning to confirm that the rules were being followed,” he explained.
