Ch. Broumidis: Vodafone’s transformation into a Technology and Communications Company accelerates our growth

The successful transition of Vodafone Greece, from a mobile phone provider less than a decade ago, to a Technology and Communications Company (Tech Comms) today, was described by its president and CEO, Haris Broumidis, in his speech during the “Technology Summit: Shaping the Digital Transition”, on Thursday 30 June 2022.

“Today, we are able to say with pride that Vodafone Greece has largely completed the cycle of its transformation into a technology company. Now, it is a fully converged company, much more digital, with infrastructure and services in a wide range of activities, which make it a completely different organization, both for us and how we operate and organize ourselves internally, as well as for our customers,” pointed out Mr. Broumidis.

In this context, Mr. Broumidis continued, Vodafone proceeded with key interventions in three directions: the convergence towards a fully converged company, through strategic acquisitions and the introduction of integrated telecommunications, technology, entertainment services, its digital transformation and the firm commitment to its corporate purpose, the collaboration of man and technology in order to lead us to an inclusive future, with social solidarity and constant care for the planet.

Among other things, today Vodafone has progressed to modern methods of (collaboration) (agile ways of working) by creating self-sufficient teams that can quickly decide, cooperate and give a result to the customer, which all technology companies now follow, and which meet the modern working needs of our people. At the same time, it introduced, first in the Greek labor market, a new hybrid work model #FutureReady, with the aim of combining the advantages of telecommuting with the benefits of working in the office, and offering its employees on a permanent basis, greater flexibility and the balance of professional and personal life.

In the context of the infrastructure projects, Mr. Broumidis emphasized, Vodafone has implemented 50% of the construction of the important project of the submarine optical fiber cable, having already completed its sealing in Crete and the Dodecanese. In terms of digital service for subscribers, he emphasized that over 1.3 million of the company’s customers use its mobile apps and almost 80% of them now receive their bill digitally. Vodafone has integrated all of our customer management into a single platform, ensuring automation, fewer processes and optimal customer service, he said.

Finally, referring to Vodafone’s new private 5G networks, the company’s CEO pointed out that their construction is progressing in collaboration with corporate customers, adding that their support with modern software-based intelligent networks such as SD-WAN gives significant new possibilities for all Greek businesses, placing them at the core of the 4th industrial revolution.
