ELSTAT: Turnover jump in focus – accommodation in the third quarter

The turnover of companies operating in the Accommodation and Catering services sector jumped in the third quarter, drawing impetus from the strong tourist growth during the summer months.

In particular, as announced by the Hellenic Statistical Authority, in all companies in the accommodation sector, the turnover in the third quarter of 2021 amounted to 3,612,942,597 euros, recording an increase of 125.9% compared to the third quarter of 2020, where it had reached 1,599 .439.486 euros.

For the companies of the Regional Units with a contribution to the total turnover of the year 2020 greater than 1.0% the largest increase in the turnover in the third quarter of 2021 compared to the third quarter of 2020 was observed in the Mykonos Regional Unit (244.2%) and the a smaller increase (63.8%) was recorded in the Attica Region.

In all companies in the catering services sector, the turnover in the third quarter of 2021 amounted to 2,313,310,051 euros, recording an increase of 36.5% compared to the third quarter of 2020, where it had amounted to 1,694,943,977 euros.

For the companies of the Regional Units with a contribution to the total turnover of 2020 greater than 1.0% the largest increase in the turnover in the third quarter of 2021 compared to the third quarter of 2020 was observed in the Regional Unit of Thira (145.3%) and the A smaller increase (4.7%) was recorded in the Regional Unit of Evia.

For companies in the accommodation industry with the obligation to keep bibliographic books, for which data are available on a monthly basis, the turnover in September 2021 amounted to 825,314,545 euros, recording an increase of 72.9% compared to September 2020, where it had amounted to 477,266,293 euros.

For the companies of the Regional Units with a contribution to the total turnover of 2020 greater than 1.0%, the largest increase in the turnover in September 2021 compared to September 2020 was observed in the Regional Unit of Thira (220.0%) and the smallest increase (86.8%) was recorded in the Regional Unit of Kos.

For companies in the catering industry with the obligation to keep bibliographic books, for which data are available on a monthly basis, the turnover in September 2021 amounted to 162,660,345 euros, an increase of 42.5% compared to September 2020, where had amounted to 114,154,819 euros.

For the companies of the Regional Units with a contribution to the total turnover of 2020 greater than 1.0%, the largest increase in the turnover in September 2021 compared to September 2020 was observed in the Regional Unit of Thira (201.2%) and the smallest An increase (12.3%) was recorded in the Regional Unit of Ioannina, while a decrease was recorded in the Regional Unit of Evia (2.7%).
